No - emergency contraceptive pills do not cause an abortion, or terminate pregnancy. They work by delaying ovulation. Emergency contraception is effective only before a pregnancy is established. It does not increase risk to an established pregnancy or harm a developing embryo. If you are pregnant, emergency contraceptive pills will not stop or harm your pregnancy.
Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mary Jacobson, is quoted in Yahoo News and USA Today explaining the differences between emergency contraception and medication abortion at https://news.yahoo.com/know-birth-control-americans-await-093005447.html.
