If your Alpha Provider thinks a lab is needed based on your symptoms, past medical history, and family history, the provider will ask you to go to the lab to take the necessary blood test prior to prescribing an as needed medication (If you have a history of hyperlipidemia, completed labs tests within the last 12 months, are on a stable dose of cholesterol-lowering medication, and have no changes in your health, your Alpha Provider may prescribe a medication refill without additional testing.)
After reviewing your test results, your Alpha Provider will prescribe the medication if you are have hyperlipidemia and possibly other risk factors of cardiovascular disease
If a medication is prescribed, in order to monitor you appropriately, you will be asked to return to the lab for an additional monitoring test and your medication will be adjusted as needed.
